Remove Acrylic Lacquer
I have an IKEA table with an acrylic lacquer finish over a dark stain on oak veneer. I would like to strip and refinish so that it is lighter. What stripper would you recommend?

Re: Remove Acrylic Lacquer
Any of the Circa 1850 removers should work on the table if it is a conventional lacquer. For catalyzed lacquers, you can try the Circa 1850 Furniture Stripper or Heavy Body Remover.

Re: Remove Acrylic Lacquer
Thanks for your quick reply. I think it is a catalyzed lacquer or tougher type becuase I was not able to soften it with lacquer thinner, methyl hydrate or ethanol. Which of the Circa 1850 Furniture Stripper or Heavy Body Remover would be more effective on catalyzed lacquers?

Re: Remove Acrylic Lacquer
The only clear finish you can remove with those solvents is shellac.

Re: Remove Acrylic Lacquer
Circa 1850 Heavy Body Remover will stay active for a longer period of time, so it should be more effective
