Hugh Fisher May 18, 2006 01:34:20 | Lemon Oil on counter top I need to know if using Circa 1850 Lemon Oil (Fine Furniture Treatment) is safe to use on an unfinished wood countertop in the kitchen. I cut on a board, and generally use plates or bowls to put things in after, but I need to know if the product is toxic in any kind of residue. The counter should be oiled every few months. Any other suggestions? Thanks a bunch |
Mark May 19, 2006 07:01:51 | RE: Lemon Oil on counter top Do not use Circa 1850 Lemon Oil on your unfinished wood IF it will come into contact with food. This product is not made for this purpose, and it may contaminate the food with unwanted flavours. Lemon Oil is not toxic once the solvents have evaporated from the polish. The best product to use for this purpose is Terra Nova NaturOil. It is completely non-toxic, contains no solvents, and is specifically designed for wood that will come into contact with food. It is available at Rona, Home Hardware and many other home centre stores. |
