Julianna Collett Oct 15, 2004 11:59:53 | staining after tung oil My husband made a mission style bed from birch three years ago and we finished it with a red mahogany stain and circa 1850 tung oil . We noticed some fading from the sun so we re-stained -that was 5 days ago and the stain does not seem to be absorbing. We have rubbed the bed several times but are still getting exess stain on our cloth ,how can we clean it so it will be usable again |

The stain needs to penetrate into the wood to be effective -but you have already sealed the wood with the tung oil. You will need to wipe the surface with a rag or steel wool dipped in mineral spirits or paint thinner. |
