Trevor Mar 06, 2025 02:23:41 | Stripping paint from dark-stained interior doors I am grateful to be able to ask for advice on this forum - chemicals and paints aren't my thing. I am stripping paint off of 1912-era fir doors. I want to bring the doors back to their original stain colour and finish. Different paints were applied, some easy to just scrape off, some hard even to grind off (wow!). Should I just buy C1850 Furniture Stripper and follow instructions? I don't want to damage or blotch the original finish, yet there is a residual creamy echo of paint left behind after scraping. Recommendations for best practice would be much appreciated. However, some will also alter the patina of the wood, which you are looking to avoid. Circa 1850 Furniture Stripper will remove the finishes without altering the patina of the wood. I would recommend it for your doors. |
