Terra Nova NaturOilMessage: I recently made two toy trucks and am looking for a quick and foolproof way to finish these. Would terra nova be a good choice? could you tell me what is the ingredients of this oil? From reading your data sheet it is my understanding that this oil does not dry to a hard finish. Is this finish compatable with Tung Oil or Walnut oil? In other words if a recoat is required could you use these oils over Terra Nova or vice versa? These toys will not be used in the immediate future however I would like to use a product that is safe so that they could be used as children's toys in the future. I am hesitant to use products that dry to a hard surface as there are many parts and I feel runs would be imminent if I used such products. If these trucks were kept for display purposes only could you use paste wax over the oil? |

RE: Terra Nova NaturOil Message: Terra Nova NaturOil is a blend of non-toxic natural oils. It can be applied directly on wood surfaces, but should not be applied over previous finishes. You could use Tung Oil over NaturOil in the future. Paste wax can be applied onto bare wood, oiled wood, or any other finish. |

RE: Terra Nova NaturOil Message: Sure. But Circa 1850 Tung'n Teak Oil would probably be a better choice. |

RE: Terra Nova NaturOil Message: Are you saying that I shouldn't be using this oil when I'm dusting and polishing my pecan coffee table? I'm sure it must have some kind of finish on it.I have tons of allergies and won't use commercial waxes ect. I've been using this product for 2 years and haven't found any visible reason not to. |

RE: Terra Nova NaturOil Message: Bonnie ~ you can use Terra Nova NarurOil when dusting and polishing. It is a unique blend of natural oils and is hypoallergenic. However, you must remove the NaturOil from the surface if you decide to refinish the table. |

RE: Terra Nova NaturOil Message: Hi. I'm building a wood kitchen countertop. I'm thinking about applying Naturoil. 1.- Do I need any wood conditioner or stain to be applied before? 2.- Is Naturoil good enough against the water and moisture, or do I need any other protection? 3.- How many coats of Naturoil are recommended? Thanks |

RE: Terra Nova NaturOil Message: Staining (and conditioning) is strictly a matter of whether you want to change the colour of the countertop. NaturOil should be used if you intend to use the countertop for food preparation, especially cutting. If the countertop will not be cut upon with knives, you can apply a finish that is more resistant to water and staining, such as Bowling Alley Polyurethane. If you go with NaturOil, saturate the wood and allow it to soak in. If any spots become dry, apply more NaturOil. After an hour or so you can wipe off the excess oil. |
