Klenks EpoxyMessage: Several questions:I used Klenks bone to cover a green bathtub about 10 years ago. I am amazed at how well it held up, but it does now require refinishing. The wall tiles are black. I have three options. (bone, black...or I would like to create my own marbled effect mixing colours as I apply them.I would like to know where we find black in Toronto, or is there a company supplier who carries the epoxy tints. I am also very creative and have experimented with using thin painter's masking tape to create the tempalte for a tile wall look in the basement hallway. I then used a wide blade to fill a shallow layer of plaster and removed the tape. I then used paint glazes to duplicate the look of travertine marble. What would you reccommend to coat with the feeling of marble? I wish to experiment with Klenks in the same way when I do my bathtub and tiles...and also plant and statue stands. Is it possible to create the marble veining and irregular dotted patterns using two or three colours of Klenks? |

RE: Klenks Epoxy Message: Klenk's Epoxy is available in 4 standard colours (white, bone, almond and grey). We no longer manufacture black, brown, blue, pink or avocado. However, there are options available to you. If you want only one or two colours, we can make a kit to match any colour you like. If you plan on doing a lot of painting with epoxies, you can purchase a tinting kit that contains all the epoxy tints, as well as a clear base for making deep colours. You can use Klenks Epoxy to make a faux marble effect. We have also done this using Nu-Lustre-55, a thicker epoxy paint. |

RE: Klenks Epoxy Message: Hi Mark: We have done the bathtub and it's a mess - it has left several running streaks and I have no idea what to do. Can we strip the currect paint and re-do the bath - Your help and suggestions are greatly appreciated. Regards, Helen |

RE: Klenks Epoxy Message: Runny streaks are usually caused by too much paint being applied to the surface at one time. The excess paint will run down the vertical walls. Allow the paint to cure for approximately one week. Using 400 or 600 grit sandpaper, remove the bumps so that the surface is smooth. Be sure to sand the entire surface to remove any glossy areas. Clean up the dust and repaint. |

RE: Klenks Epoxy Message: I have purchased the 2-part epoxy kit but cannot find the epoxy thinner. Is there a product I can substitute? Would Acetone work? I have to rent the apartment so need to get the tub done as soon as possible. Thanks Donna |

RE: Klenks Epoxy Message: I would like to tint my Klenks Epoxy paint. Where do I get the tints - I live on Saltspring Island on the west coast of BC, and bought my Klenks at the local Home Hardware. Can I special order the tint there? Thanks for your time Patricia |

RE: Klenks Epoxy Message: Hi there I refinished my tub with Klenk's epoxy about a month ago. Looked great at first but now some of the finish is coming off in places. Have you heard of this problem before, any suggestions? PS: I am only washing the tub with a soft cloth and dish soap. |

RE: colour tinting Message: Ok - if I want just one colour, how do I go about getting that? |
| Mark 10/30/2006 7:56:24 AM |
RE: Klenks Epoxy Message: You can order a special colour through your local paint store. Debbie - The paint will peel off of the surface if it was prepared properly according to the directions. It has nothing to do with how you are now washing the tub. You will have to completely remove the finish using Circa 1850 Heavy Body Paint & Varnish Remover and begin from scratch. |

RE: Klenks Epoxy Message: Le produit que je pense que vous le besoin est des klenks. Vous pouvez introduire un échantillon de couleur par n'importe quel magasin qui vend les klenks et il peut être assorti. |

RE: Klenks Epoxy Message: Hi - I'm applying Klenk's epoxy paint to a 75 year old enamel coated cast tub. The inside of the tub is very rough and its sheen has faded. The outside wall of the tub is in very nice shape and has maintained its original gloss. I have used the prep kit on the inside of the tub, is there anythig should do to prepare the outside wall? Will the epoxy paint adhere to a high gloss surface or should I sand with a high grit paper and use the prep kit? |

RE: Klenks Epoxy Message: That sound like a good idea. Better Safe than sorry as my late grandmother used to tell me. |

RE: Klenks Epoxy Message: I used the epoxy enamel to cover a green bathtub. It took 4 coats to cover however after my last coat there are now brush steaks showing, especially on the bottom of the tub. I think the paint got too thick on the final coat. If I start with a new can will it cover the streaks? |

RE: Klenks Epoxy Message: Hi Judy, You can recover from this point in your project. Sand the surface with 200 grit or finer to smooth the surface. After removing the sanding dust, repaint. Good Luck |

RE: Klenks Epoxy Message: Does Klenk''''s epoxy hold up well in a kitchen sink? There are pots and pans being cleaned with elbow grease. There is dishwashing detergent. There are pot scrubbing sponges. There are spatulas. |

RE: Klenks Epoxy Message: I refinished my sink a few years ago and have some custom coloured paint left. I want to repaint but I don''t remember know the ratio of mixing part A and part B. Is it 2 to 1? I don''t want to mix it all as I wish to keep this customized colour. |

RE: Klenks Epoxy Message: The mixing ratio is 1 part A to 1 part B. |
