Subject: Product won''t cure

Message:
I was wondering if anybody knows why the product won''t cure. I''ve used nu-lustre 55 before and it was great, but this time it''s been almost 3 hrs and it hasn''t even started to cure. I''m upset because i put it on a pyrography art piece on basswood that a customer wants. The hardener did turn an amber colour and the product is a couple years old but this has never happened before. It''s not too hot or too cold, same temperature I always do this in. What can I do to make it harden now? If anything.

RE: Product won''t cure

Message:
Nu-Lustre-55 cures by chemical reaction of the resin with the hardener. Older product may take slightly longer to cure.
The two factors that affect the rate of cure are the mixing and the temperature. If the mixing was not done thoroughly, the resin and hardener will not be able to react and cure. Unmixed Nu-Lustre will NEVER cure.
The temperature of the mixture (and of the environment) will determine the rate of cure. The warmer the mixture (and the environment), the faster the rate of cure. Under cool conditions, it may take several days for the epoxy to completely cure.
