Subject: Odor using Teak&Tung Oil

Message:
I have used the Circa1850 Teak & Tung Oil finish and like the results but the big problem is the lasting odor of the finish. My projects are band from the house for long periods of time. I have read through some of the above Q&A''s and I''m wondering if covering the oil with the hand rubbed varnish would solve the lasting odor problem?
How long should I wait for the oil finish to cure before applying the hand rubbed varnish?

Thanks ed

The odour that you are experiencing is the slowly curing oil. So, the best way to increase the cure rate is to put your project in a warm, dry, sunny room with good air flow.

You can apply a varnish on top of the Tung''n Teak Oil as soon as a you can press hard onto the oiled finish and not feel any tackiness.
