Stain N Varnish - StaircaseMessage: We are looking to refinish our oak staircase from a light golden stain colour (high gloss) to something of a darker colour. We've looked into sanding the stairs which is a huge project but ran across a reference to the Circa 1850 Stain N Varnish. It looks like we could simply apply a darker version of this product to the stairs to achieve the darker stained staircase. Do I have this right? |

RE: Stain N Varnish - Staircase Message: One more addition to my original question. If this is applied to the staircase in the recommended directions (sand, apply, sand, apply)how durable is the product? As this is a staircase it will see fairly heavy traffic with a family of five 0 will it hold up? |

RE: Stain N Varnish - Staircase Message: If you are looking to apply this to the treads, and there will be heavy (shoe) traffic, you will probably want to apply a good oil-based polyurethane top coat. |
