Circa 1850 Fast Dry PolyurethaneMessage: Hi, For my boat's cabin sole, I had used a polyurethane called Ultimate Sole (gloss, no abrasives), which is no longer in business. I'm trying to find out if Circa 1850 Fast Dry Polyurethane would have similar non-slip properties with water on it. I was told that Ultimate Sole had a high coefficient of friction which increased with additional pressure. All I know is that it wasn't slippery when wet, unlike traditional polyurethanes. Any thoughts? Thanks, Scott |

RE: Circa 1850 Fast Dry Polyurethane Message: Scott, Very interesting product. Too bad it is no longer available. Unfortunately, the Circa 1850 Fast Dry Polyurethane would not be considered a non-slip coating. However, you have piqued my interest, and we will start working on it. Check back soon to see where we are at |

RE: Circa 1850 Fast Dry Polyurethane Message: Mark, Thanks for the quick reply! I'm glad I piqued your interest. Here's some more details that I have on Ultimate Sole: coefficient of friction > 0.5 Gardner color scale < 4 Thanks, Scott |

RE: Circa 1850 Fast Dry Polyurethane Message: Mark, the problem is I can't find a retail store in my area that has a listing on this product to give me a price. Can you help me out on this? I live in Chilliwack B.C. and if I can find a retailer here or somewhere in the Fraser Valley area it would help. thanks Gary |

RE: Circa 1850 Fast Dry Polyurethane Message: Best bet is to get a Home Hardware to do a special order for you. |

RE: Circa 1850 Fast Dry Polyurethane Message: I''m also looking for a non-slip product (like the old Ultimate Sole) to refinish our cabin sole; but preferably in Satin. Scott or Mark, did either of you make any headway? Thanks! Elisa |

RE: Circa 1850 Fast Dry Polyurethane Message: I see the last time someone asked about non-slip for a boat sole, was in April of 2011 (almost a year ago). Any progress? Has anyone tried mixing a product from Sherwin Williams called "Shark Grip" into the Circa 1850? I''m interested in a satin look, so a little haze from the grip material probably wouldn''t be noticed. |

RE: Circa 1850 Fast Dry Polyurethane Message: I like using Circa Tung Oil it brings out the grain and color of the wood. Can I use Circa 1850 Polyurethane over the Circca Tung Oil for more protection? Most Polyurethane will not adhear over a tung oil base. |

RE: Circa 1850 Fast Dry Polyurethane Message: Yes, you can use Circa 1850 Polyurethane over Circa 1850 Tung Oil. The key to achieving a good finish is to allow the tung oil to have plenty of time to thoroughly cure. Under ideal conditions, this would be 24 hours. However, low temperature, high humidity, poor air flow and lack of sunlight may greatly extend the cure time. |

RE: Circa 1850 Fast Dry Polyurethane Message: Mark, any updates since last year? Glad to see I'm not the only one looking for a satin non-slip poly... |
