Subject: car oil stains

Message:
I have and old piece of furniture that I am restoring, I am wondering if there is ANY product that can soak up the oil from the wood. This oil must have been in the drawers and top for at least 50 years. I have tried stripper, heat gun, sanding, goof off, dish soap, and instorzorb and did I mention A LOT of sanding. I need to try someing else if anything is out there. The wood is (I think) white maple. Thanks

Motor oil stains are probably from the heavy tar-like components. You may want to try to get them off by flooding the surface with mineral oil and using steel wool to loosen it up. Use rags to absorb the oil.
