Have medium dark kitchen cupboards - want to have them white - either stain or paint. Have done other houses - sanded - Bin - white paint. Do you have new ideas?

One way to lighten up the cupboard is to apply a couple coats of Circa 1850 Stain'n Varnish (White Birch) on top of the existing finish. It just requires cleaning to remove any grime or kitchen grease and a light sanding.
The advantage of this precedure is that the Stain'n Varnish is transparent so you will still be able to see the grain of the wood.

You can remove the finish using paint stripper. Sometimes that will also remove the stain (most kitchen cabinets are finished with a lacquer stain).
If the wood colour is still too dark after removing the finish you can use a wood bleach to completely remove all traces of colour from the wood.

Also have another question. Have dark green verticals in same kitchen. Can I paint them a light color - and how.

Clean the surface with TSP and warm water. Sand lightly. Apply a coat of a pigmented stain-blocking primer (Prime-it Plus). Wait until thoroughly dry and apply a coat of any colour paint you desire.

I have pine wood kitchen cupboards which I would like to give a facelift and paint white. I want them to look slightly stressed and not look like I have just painted them. Can you give any advice on what method and paint to use. Thank you.

I have dark dark brown kitchen cupboards. I want to paint them an almond color. What is the easiest way to paint them and have them not chip or peel?

Kitchen cabinets must be thoroughly cleaned, sanded and primed prior to painting.

Wash the surfaces with TSP and warm water. If the surface is glossy, a light sanding to reduce the gloss is recommended. Use a good quality universal primer (such as Prime-it Plus) to seal in any stains and provide and good surface for bonding. Apply two coats of a good quality oil based paint or latex trim paint (oil is better since it is easier to scrub clean).

Good luck.
